Love so much of this rich detail, Matthew – slate-lifting winds, OFSTED like pigs/pannage!
Thank you so much, Claire – that’s lovely of you to say.
Excellent poems as always, Matthew. I was near Spurn this summer, returning to Withernsea where I spent some of my early childhood… I didn’t have a car and there were no buses, so I didn’t make it as far as Spurn sadly. Next time!
And, as a teacher, I appreciate your other poem too. Nice to think of being remembered by children you’ve taught!
All the best

Thanks very much, Ali. I was in Withernsea in the summer before last and caught the bus down to Easington and walked to Spurn from there – but it was a bit of a schlep and it was very hot!
Yes, you always remember the good teachers, don’t you? Though, sadly, I remember some awful ones too, who didn’t appear to like children, let alone teaching them!
I hope your writing’s going well.
All the best, Matthew x
Thanks, Matthew.
Just started something new in my fiction writing 🤞🏽and still working on a poem to mark my mum’s 90th birthday (she’ll be 91 before it’s finished!) No news on the publication front 😢 but 2024 may turn out to be a good writing year! Your writing looks to be going well.
All the best

Sounds good, Ali – all the best with it. Fits and starts with mine, but twas ever thus! x
