Publication news

With many thanks to editors Kathryn Gray and Andrew Neilson, I have a poem in the latest issue of Bad Lilies, my favourite online poetry journal, among some poets whom I greatly admire, here. (I’m especially pleased to be alongside Geraldine Clarkson, whose poem is her customary magical delight.)

I’m also very pleased to have a poem, about my fellow Kingstonian Eadweard Muybridge, in the imminent (print) issue of Pennine Platform (thanks to editor Julia Deakin), which you can subscribe to here; reviews of enjoyable and admirable collections by Anne Berkeley, Matt Howard and Beverley Bie Brahic (thank you, Ann and Peter Sansom) in issue no. 72, the splendid ‘Library Issue’, of my favourite print poetry journal, The North, which can be bought here; and a haibun in the forthcoming anthology Testament, poems and songs to commemorate a hundred years since the General Strike, edited by Nick Allen and Tim Fellows and to be published by Crooked Spire Press – details and launch event(s) to follow.

All this goes to show that publications really do come along like buses, or goals scored by hitherto goal-shy QPR centre-forwards . . .

I should add that this coming Thursday evening, I’ll be going to the celebration (without readings) in London of the launch of Hamish Ironside’s third haiku collection, Down Falls the Lark, published by Iron Press. Hamish’s first two collections are still available on the Iron website, here, though the new one isn’t on there yet. Each collection is the result of Hamish writing (at least) a haiku a day for a whole year, from which a selection is then made. If any haiku fans would like details of where and when the celebration will be, please contact me.
